A society where no one is hungry or lonely? Nourishing communities using surplus food? From Foodcycle’s first cook in May of 2009 through tonight’s cooks in Sheffield, Manchester, Bath, and close to 200 other locations throughout the UK, Foodcycle is making an impact on hunger.
When a group of committed volunteers and an eclectic mix of ingredients come together to create a meal for the community, delicious meals are created out of each FoodCycle cooking session. Conversations begin and friendships are made.
Impact goals include:
+ strengthen communities by bringing people together around a healthy meal
+ encourage friendships by creating spaces for people from all backgrounds and walks of life to have fun together
+ improve nutrition and reduce hunger by cooking healthy meals for those in need
+ change attitudes to food by cooking with surplus ingredients and spreading our passion for food and the environment
+ Foodcycle measures, creates, and reports on impact using Salesforce.
